Foil Colors

Foil stamping uses heat and a copper die to press metallic or pigment foil into the paper surface. Unlike letterpress ink, foil is completely opaque — which means you can print light colors on dark paper.

These are the foil colors we keep in stock. We can also source custom foils from multiple suppliers to match nearly any specification. Foil pairs beautifully with letterpress or digital printing for added visual interest.

Common Questions

Can I print white on dark paper?

Yes — this is one of the best uses of foil stamping. Because foil is opaque (unlike letterpress ink, which is transparent), white foil on black paper produces a clean, crisp result. It's one of our most requested combinations.

Can I use more than one foil color?

Yes. Each foil color requires its own copper die and a separate press run, so additional colors add production cost. But multi-foil work — like gold and silver on the same piece — can be striking.

Can foil and letterpress be combined?

Absolutely. Foil and ink complement each other beautifully. Just separate the foil and ink elements onto different layers in your design file so we can make the right plates for each.

Can you source a foil color that's not on this list?

Yes. We work with multiple foil suppliers and can source specialty colors, patterns, and finishes. Let us know what you're looking for and we'll find the closest match.
