White Ink Printing

White ink digital printing on colored paper menu

Rise and Shine Letterpress was founded on a deep appreciation for traditional printing methods. We specialize in leveraging vintage presses, hand-mixed inks, and time-honored techniques while incorporating contemporary design aesthetics.

However, certain modern design trends require updated printing solutions. White ink printing is one of the most popular current trends in luxury stationery — and it creates unique challenges for letterpress operations since our inks are transparent, meaning lighter inks on darker papers frequently appear faded when applied to the soft, uncoated papers we typically use.

Alternative approaches

White foil stamping provides one option for achieving tactile impressions on paper. However, this technique can be problematic for intricate or small text commonly featured in wedding invitations and event stationery.

Our modern printing solution

We recently added contemporary printing equipment capable of applying white ink to textured papers and envelopes. This digital printing technology enables:

  • Variable addressing on envelopes
  • Variable text on name cards and menus
  • Beautiful white ink contrast against colored papers

Recommended papers

Keaykolour, Colorplan, and Gmund papers work exceptionally well for white ink projects, offering diverse vibrant color selections. These premium stocks combine rich color with the tactile quality our clients expect.
